4) “Working hard becomes a habit, a serious kind of fun. You get self-satisfaction from pushing yourself to the limit, knowing that all the effort is going to pay off.”—Mary Lou Retton

There’s no doubt that hard work is definitely one of the best habits to practice. In this quote, Retton reminds us that the cause-and-effect of working hard and seeing results becomes a self-perpetuating cycle. Nothing is more motivating than seeing all your efforts come to fruition, and that motivation is what gives you the energy to keep working hard.

5) “Successful and unsuccessful people do not vary greatly in their abilities. They vary in their desires to reach their potential.”—John Maxwell

Maxwell makes a great point in this quote. Two people with the same amount of knowledge and talent will not necessarily both find success. Talent is nothing without hard work. If you truly want to aspire to greatness and success, you’ll put in the hard work to reach it.

6) “Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today.”—Thomas Jefferson

This quote applies to all aspects of life. So often, the biggest obstacle keeping someone from reaching their potential is procrastination. It’s easy to find an excuse to postpone a task to tomorrow when you don’t really want to do it. This is a dangerous habit because as long as you continue to accept your own excuses, you’ll never be able to succeed. Just remember, there’s no time like the present!

7) “Good, better, best. Never let it rest. Until your good is better and your better is best.”—Tim Duncan

While this one may sound a little cheesy, it’s actually extremely wise. The message here is to never stop improving until you are the best. More often than not, there is always room for you to improve and become better at something. Never settle for mediocre. Make a name for yourself by working hard and delivering results.
